Guildford Spectrum invests in technology to support lifeguards and enhance pool safety
Guildford Spectrum, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, has invested in new AI-powered technology designed to support its lifeguards and enhance swimmer safety.
The new Lynxight system which is used in more than 1,000 pools across 16 countries around the world, uses a network of newly installed cameras and AI technology to monitor activity in the water and supports to alert lifeguards when it detects behaviour that could indicate a swimmer may be in difficulty.
The technology is designed to work alongside Guildford Spectrum's team of trained lifeguards, providing them with additional information to help identify potential incidents and respond quickly.
The system provides an additional tool to support the existing lifeguarding team, who remain responsible for actively supervising the pools and responding to swimmers who may require assistance.
The investment forms part of Guildford Spectrum's ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of safety while continuing to explore how new technology can support its teams and improve the experience for customers.
Melanie Main, General Manager at Guildford Spectrum, said:
"The safety of our customers is our highest priority, and our lifeguards play a hugely important role in keeping people safe in our pools. Lynxight gives them another tool to support the work they already do."
"Our pools continue to be supervised by trained lifeguards, with Lynxight providing an additional layer of support for them."
Guildford Spectrum remains one of the South East’s leading leisure destinations, offering a wide range of activities under one roof for both local residents and day visitors.
