We are making improvements to your Leisure Pool!
The Leisure pool is having maintenance works carried out and the changing village refurbished.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the works this will mean that the Leisure Pool and changing village will need to close for a short period of time to enable all the work to take place. Both the Leisure Pool and changing village will be closed from Monday 27th November and reopening on Tuesday 26th December 2023.
The teaching pool, competition pool and dive pool will remain open as per our timetable.
Swimming lessons will continue as scheduled.
Lessons that usually take place in the Leisure Pool will be relocated.
We strongly advise that customers turn up to their swimming lessons, swim ready.
Access to the pool area will remain via the main entrance to the pool. Parents will leave their children on the seating and benches at the shallow end of the competition pool, in the correct stage for their lesson for collection by their teacher. This area will be supervised by a member of staff.
The competition changing rooms will be available during swimming lessons and will be unisex and available to children under 9. There is no adult changing permitted during swimming lessons. For adults and children over 9, the single sex showers and changing facilities on level 1, opposite the arenas will be available.
If you wish to change your child in the level 1 changing facilities, please ensure you meet them from their lesson with a towel and footwear to travel to the alternative changing facilities.
There are limited lockers available in the competition pool changing facilities, but lockers are available in the level 1 changing facilities (these are operated by a non-returnable 20p coin).
The competition pool changing facilities will remain open for use during the refurbishment work. These changing facilities will be available for all swimmers to use during the week but will be reserved for Swimming Lessons only over the weekends.
Alternative showers and changing facilities will be available on Level 1, opposite the Arenas.
We strongly advise our lane swim customers to arrive swim ready.
The improvements to the leisure pool and changing village are taking place in 4 phases:
Phase 1 Ceiling
A new ceiling with new air handling and new lighting is currently being installed in the changing village. These works are able to take place without the need to close the village. This phase of the project is due to be completed by late November.
Phase 2 Flooring
A new floor will be laid throughout the changing village during the closure, including all the family and group changing areas. We will also be replacing some of the flooring on poolside.
Phase 3 Pool maintenance
While the leisure pool is closed there is a long list of maintenance work scheduled to take place; everything from the annual feature servicing, new Whizz slide recoating and works to some of the steel frame work within the pool.
Phase 4 Showers and toilets
Early in 2024 all the Leisure Pool showers and toilets will be refurbished. This work will be carried out while the pool is open and in a phased manner, meaning there will always be showers and toilets available.
- All Leisure Pool swimming including Toddler Splash is cancelled from Monday 27th November until we reopen on Boxing Day 26th December 2023.
- Swimming Lessons and Aqua Aerobics that would normally take place in the Leisure Pool from Monday 27th November will be relocated to the other pools and will remain on.
- There will be additional Family Bubble Swims in the Teaching Pool and a new Family Splash session in the Teaching pool for families with younger children during the closure.
- Please visit the Box Office for session times and prices (Swim and Family Members will have this included in their membership)
