Spectrum wins silver in lifeguard triathlon

Guildford Spectrum, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, has come second in the CIMSPA & IQL UK Lifeguard Triathlon, missing out on top prize by just 2.75 marks. We had 9 male staff in the top 20 out of 216 lifeguards and 3 females in the top 20 out of 178 females.

The competition is based on key principles of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), and tests lifeguards' CPR, rescue swim and theory skills.

"I am extremely proud of all our lifeguards who took part again this year. To come second in this national competition is a great achievement, but we'll be going for gold next year” says Natalie Kirk, Freedom Leisure Training Manager, Guildford Spectrum. “We have a rigorous training programme for our lifeguards at Spectrum and we are fortunate to have such a highly skilled team here. It’s gratifying to have their talents recognised nationally in this way and this achievement will instil justifiable pride in their abilities and high standard of work.”
