Penguin Skating Aids
Penguin shaped skating aids are available to hire on the day on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be advised we have a limited number available and they are hired in 15 minute sessions.  At peak times the penguins are very popular with our younger visitors and as we currently only have 11 penguins they may not always be available during your visit.  Please click here ]for further details.  

Skate Hire
Please note that our ice skates available from Skate Hire range from a child size 6 to an adult size 14.

Simply Skate
Sessions are on Monday, Tuesday (figure & rental skates only) and Wednesday evenings and are a relaxing skate with music. Also on Tuesday evenings there is a 15 minute dance interval at 9.15pm.

Ice Cool Classics
Thursday evenings is a session with a DJ who plays classic hits and special requests.

The Big Deal Ticket
10 public skating sessions for £44.00.  Only 1 person per session admitted with this ticket.  This ticket does not include skate hire.  This ticket must be used for public skating sessions within the 6 weeks expiry date shown. Ticket for 1 adult or 1 junior.  

 
Bowl & Skate Combo Tickets
Available Mondays 8.30pm and Thursday evenings 4.45pm until close, 1 game of bowling plus your ice skating session for £10.00 (inc. skate/shoe hire). Family Discos Fun sessions with one of our resident DJs playing all the latest hits.

The Guildford Flames
Spectrum is home to the 2003-2004 Play Off Champions and Premier Cup Champions 2006-2007 - The Guildford Flames. Playing from September to April, a Flames match is action-packed, full of drama and an exciting night out for the family. Swimming - Leisure Pool

Splash about in Spectrum's leisure pool. Speed down one of our 3 flumes, race your friends on "The Surf" or enjoy a gentle meander around Sandy Creek. With a wave machine, spa baths, bubble beds and a pirate ship there's plenty to see and do.

Tenpin Bowling is a fantastic game that anyone can play. Spectrum has 32 lanes which incorporate a computerised scoring system and automatic pin-setting equipment. Bowling shoes and a choice of weights of bowling ball are included in the game fee. Bumpers and ramps are also available for those who need a little more help! A licensed bar, Trattoria pizza restaurant and a range of state of the art video machines, add to the fun atmosphere.

Tuesday League
The Tuesday Fun Doubles League is a BTBA sanctioned handicap league that rolls off every Tuesday at 7.45pm.  The Fun Doubles caters for all types of bowlers, from beginners to the more experienced.  The handicap system is a great leveller and is used to ensure that everyone has a good chance of winning.  If you are interested in joining the league either as a doubles team, with up to four registered players, or as an individual please contact the league secretary, [howard@tuesdayfundoubles.org.uk] or visit the website [http://www.tuesdayfundoubles.org.uk/].

Wednesday League

Thursday Morning League
This is a fun league open to everyone over 16 years of age. It is held weekly on Thursday mornings between September and June. Matches are played 10am - 12noon and lineage is £7.60 for each person bowling (this includes shoe hire and a free drink). Any person or new team interested in joining the League will be very welcome and should pop down on Thursday. 

Youth Bowling Club
The Youth Bowling Club] or YBC is a very popular club for bowlers aged eight to eighteen. The club plays every Saturday morning from 9.00am to 11.00am. This social and fun group are happy to welcome new bowlers. Each session costs £7.00, annual membership is FREE! All equipment, instruction and shoe hire are included in the fee.

Have a Ball £12.90 per head
Includes 2 games of tenpin bowling, shoe hire, balloons on your lane, tables behind the lanes for drinks and fun certificates for the highest and lowest scores.

Strikeout £16.00 per head
This party includes everything from "Have a Ball" plus a party host for the duration of the party, fun certificates for the highest and lowest scores and a trophy for the winning team.

Kingpin £18.20 per head
Includes everything from the "Strikeout" party and a private venue for your post bowling buffet (maximum number 30 people).

Secondly, choose your food:

Should you require catering for your party staff can advise you on the catering options available and we can personalise the menus to your liking.  Please enquire about the menus available when you arrange your party booking.

Please note that Toddler Splash (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) is now at a later time of 10.45am to 12.30pm, term time and from 8.30am to 9.30am during the school holidays

On Saturdays 3rd March, 17th March and 24th March there are no Swim for All sessions in the 25 Metre, Teaching and Diving Pools due to a gala.

On Sunday 4th March there will be no sessions all day in the 25 metre, Teaching and Diving Pools due to a gala.


Spectrum Swim School needs you!!!

Tuesday 14th to Thursday 16th February 

We are running, in conjunction with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), an Instructors course on the above dates and are looking for children (4yrs +) to take part in swimming lessons which will form part of the instructor training programme.

Spectrum Pools - FAN-SPLASH-TIC!

Spectrum has a magnificent complex of four pools with a variety of sessions for beginners and splashers, to serious swimmers and divers.  

Pool Safety - Please read before your visit.
All children under 9 years of age must be accompanied in the water by a responsible adult.  Only 2 children under 9 years to every one adult of which only one child can be under 4 years.  During Toddler Splash sessions up to 2 children under 4 years can be accompanied by a responsible adult.  An adult is someone aged 16 and over.

Please inform the lifeguard if anyone in your group suffers from a medical condition. e.g. epilepsy. There is disabled visitor access to all pools and two chair hoists are available to gain access to the competition pool. Please do not hesitate to ask if you require assistance.

Leisure Pool
The Leisure Pool is an exciting area with fun features including flumes, a tyre ride, bubble beds, sprays and a wave machine. You can also race your friends on the Surf, our 3 lane slide.

At peak times a coloured band system operates in the leisure pool. A minimum of 90 minutes is allocated to your visit to the Pools subject to opening hours and capacities.

At peak times the wave machine operates for five minutes in every thirty.  During off-peak sessions the wave machine operates for five minutes once an hour.   The Whizz and and Surf slides are not available during off-peak times.

Competition Pool
The pool is a 25 x 17 metre, 8 lane deck level swimming pool which is the home of our resident swimming club - [Guildford City SC]. The opening times and detail on the various sessions in this pool can be found in our times and prices section. Guildford Spectrum is also on [Splashpath] which is a FREE downloadable App where you can register your achievements every time you visit the pool, search for pools near you and also get involved in exciting challenges like Swim to Alcatraz, Swim the Nile and Swim the Thames (without the tummy bugs!!)

Slide Height Guidelines
For The Surf and Aqua Whizz, riders must be over 1 metre tall to use the slide.  For the Ramp, riders must be under 1 metre tall to use the slide.

Do you swim regularly or would you like to return to swimming? If the answer is YES, then we've got just the thing for you. The BBC is working closely with the national governing body, British Swimming, to launch a new mass participation campaign called the '[Big Splash]' and Spectrum is getting involved!

We want to inspire more people to swim regularly. Throughout the year the BBC will highlight swimming as an important life-skill and gateway to a host of fun activities through a range of well known programmes across TV, radio and online.

Swimmers can ask for a Big Splash reward card when they visit which is stamped on each visit*. Once 10 swims have been purchased the next two are on us! Two free swims and that can be during a lane swim session or you can treat yourself to a relaxing swim and some fun in our leisure pool.

The Leisure Pool is available to hire for children's parties, work events or any other celebration you can think off.

Hire includes exclusive use of the leisure pool for up to 75 people, use of the aqua whizz, flume, tyre ride, spa and water features for the duration of the party, 2 wave machine sessions and use of the surf slide for the last 30 minutes of the party. Your group will be fully supervised by our qualified lifeguards.

There is also the option to have a larger group (i.e above 75 people as above), subject to an additional charge of £75 for each additional block of 25 swimmers.

Safety Information
All children under the age of 9 must be accompanied in the water by an adult.  Only two children under 9 to every adult. All children under 4 years of age must be accompanied in the water on a 1 adult to 1 child basis.  An adult is someone aged 16 or over.

Swimmers in Guildford will dive into the world’s biggest fundraising swim at Spectrum on 28 – 29 April*. They will take on one of the five [Swimathon Weekend 2012] challenges, raising money for either Marie Curie Cancer Care or Sport Relief.

In its 25th Anniversary, [Swimathon] has joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC’s Big Splash, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sport Relief, to promote what is hoped will be the biggest Swimathon Weekend ever.

The Swimathon Weekend 2012 will give hundreds of swimmers in the region the opportunity to raise vital funds for [Marie Curie Cancer Care] through Swimathon’s established Distance Challenges and for [Sport Relief] through the new ‘Big Splash Mile’. Swimathon Weekend 2012 is the perfect way to start the New Year and a new you.

Whatever your ability, swimming is a great form of exercise, and is relaxing for the mind and body. Swimming also helps to build endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness.  Entries for the Swimathon Weekend 2012 opened last week with the first 10,000 people to register for the Swimathon Weekend online at [www.swimathon.org] before 31 January 2012 will enjoy a half price discount!

Swimathon Weekend participants can raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care by swimming the 5k, 2.5k or Team 5k challenges, or for Sport Relief by swimming the ‘Big Splash Mile’, individually or as part of a team.

Simon Tomlins, Pools Manager at Guildford Spectrum commented on the Swimathon Weekend 2012, “It is a fantastic way to bring our community together, to raise money for charity, and provides a great challenge.” Funds raised by taking on the Swimathon Distance Challenges for Marie Curie Cancer Care will provide free nursing care and support for people with terminal cancer and other illnesses. Money raised by the public for the Big Splash Mile for Sport Relief will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives; both here, at home in the UK, and across the world's poorest countries.

What is Exercise Referral?

Exercise Referral is when GP's and Health Professionals refer patients to a qualified exercise specialist at a local leisure facility, where a tailored exercise programme can be devised and delievered for them.

What can I expect from the Exercise Referral Scheme?

You will meet a qualified exercise specialist, who will devise an activity plan with regular reviews to see how you are getting on, in order to:

- Help you achieve your best results
- Provide safe and effective exercise
- Help you to make positive changes to your lifestyle and become more active
- Advise, motivate and support you

The activity plan is a 12 week personal exercise plan taliored specifically for you.  The plan will be based on the following information you provide to us:

- Your current health status
- Any medical conditions you may have
- What you enjoy doing
- What you would like to try
- Your lifestyle

How can exercise help you?

You will have been referred on to the scheme because your GP or Health Professional thinks you will benefit from more exercise.  Research shows that increasing the amount of activity you do can make significant improvements to your health, well-being and lifestyle.

What counts as exercise or physical activity?

The key to enjoying exercise is to incorporate fun activities in to your every day life.  We will help to start you off in a safe environment and raise awareness as to what is available in the area.

How do I take part?

Firstly, you need to get in contact with your GP who will ask you to complete a 'Patient Referral Form'.  If you are successful in your referral from you GP, Practice Nurse or Consultant you will be asked to get in touch with an exercise referral specialist to arrange your first appointment.

Please call 01483 443355 to arrange your appointment with one of our referral specialists.  You will need to bring your 'Patient Referral Form' with you on your first appointment.

How much does the scheme cost?

The initial registration fee is £15.00.  This includes a free assessment and induction with regular monitoring over your 12 week plan from an exercise referral specialist.  You will then have access to energy level gym & spa at Guildford Spectrum, with the option of 2 payment methods:

1. £60 for 12 weeks access, Monday - Friday between 9am - 4pm
2. Or you can pay as you come along: £3.00 per off peak session or £6.90 for a peak session

Spectrum offers a wide range of fitness and group exercise, dance and water based exercise classes, that appeal to both men and women regardless of age and ability. The action suite is Spectrum's purpose built group exercise hall.

The suite is the ideal home for our programme of over 40 cutting edge classes from all the latest trends frm Les Mills International and Zumba, complement traditional classes including, LBT and Circuits, Yoga and Pilates.  Steps, mats and hand weights are provided.

All classes are taught by professional instructors with recognised qualifications. They can help and advise on how to achieve your fitness objectives.

Levels of Intensity
All classes are suitable for all levels of fitness but may vary in complexity. Participants are invited to work at their own level with low impact alternatives incorporated into most sessions.

General Class Information
For Health & Safety reasons, tickets will not be sold to customers arriving 5 minutes after the class start time.  Tickets must be handed to the Instructor, no entry without a valid ticket.

Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn.

The instructor must be informed of any injuries or medical conditions which may affect participation.

Term-time only classes will not run during the school holiday periods.

[Ice Skating]
This activity gives children a wonderful opportunity to gain a taste of skating if inexperienced or a chance to brace the ice with their skills for the more experienced.  The younger ages will be able to skate with the knowledge that they will have their own sectioned off area of the ice so more focus and emphasis can be given by the activity coaches, whereas the older ages will be able to whizz around with the public during a normal session.

[Bowling] 
We provide one full game of bowling.  Children can test their skills against each other to try and achieve the highest score possible, knowing that they are up against watchful eyes from the other Activators!!!

[Swimming] 
For the older age group only (9 years +).  Children will be able to experience the thrills of the Leisure Pool.  Coaches will also be in the water to keep a watchful eye.  All slides are available to use as well as the spa area and wave pool.  But beware.... the challenge is when the waves are on!

[Specky's Pirate Ship] 
For the younger age group only (under 9 years).  The four levelled Pirate Ship provides a safe and inviting environment for children to explore through its slides, swings, ball ponds, netting and much more to conquer victorious.  Navigate through the ship to catch animals and fellow Activators.  Remember.... the treasure is never far!!!

Trampolining
Bouncing on one of our full sized trampolines will allow children to improve their co-ordination whilst having fun.  Taking part in a variety of games and learning new skills and tricks on the trampoline will give them an edge over their friends. 

Track Time
Activities and games down on the Athletics Track allows children to get some fresh air, whatever the weather.  Such games as rounders, touch rugby, splat and games with the rope and parachute.  These fast, frantic and enjoyable games will improve team playing ability and trying to get an edge over the opponent.  Watch out though, there may be some instances where winning can result in forfeits!  

Arts and Crafts
During Arts and Crafts, we like to celebrate individuality.  All children think differently, so why not get them started with free play.  Whilst being given a specific theme, children can explore into the world of their powerful imagination to create something spectacular to take home at the end of the day. 

What else do you need to know...
To guarantee that your child enjoys their time at Xtreme Activate they will need to bring the following;

• A Jacket/Coat for going outside
• Swimwear (9 years + only)
• Packed lunch with a drink
• Any items of clothing needed for ice skating
• An additional bottled drink, which must be reusable with your child's name clearly marked.

For security purposes, the registration form requires a password.  This password will need to be given to staff when the parent/guardian collects the child.  The Xtreme Activate Superviser will keep the password secure.  If the password is forgotten the Supervisor will need to be notified and a new password recorded.

Don't forget to purchase your tickets from Main Reception before heading along to Specky's Pirate Ship

All pirates aged 8 and under must be supervised by an adult who may remain in the departure dock, or join the pirates on their adventure if they feel brave enough. (Max 3 children per adult) Whilst happy to be of assistance, we must stress that the accompanying adult is responsible for the little pirates in their care.

• Socks must be worn and we advise that you cover your arms and legs
• Pirates buggies and shoes must be left in the departure dock
• To prevent sinking, all sharp objects must be removed before jumping aboard
• Food and drink must be confined to the departure dock
• Lockers are available for valuables, to give parents the freedom to assist in play

Funtime Pool Party
Make a splash with a Spectrum Funtime Pool Party, you will have exclusive use of our Teaching Pool and a dedicated lifeguard. It's a pool party with a difference, we provide mats, balls, surfboards and organised games. Funtime Pool Parties are only available at weekends for 4 to 8 year olds.  1 supervising adult must be present for every 3 children under 9 years old (supervisors will gain free entry to the pool). This party costs £104.00 for 10 to 20 children. Party food can be arranged in Costa Coffee, Trattoria and Wimpy.

Ice Skating
You and your friends can really cut the ice at Spectrum where you will enjoy 45 minutes of fun and games with one of our friendly ice hosts. You will have your own section of our Olympic ice rink where you can practice being the next Torvill & Dean. Skaters of all levels are welcome.  Parties cater for up to 10, 6 to 7 year olds or up to 12, 8 to 12 year olds. Cheerleading Party
Have lots of laughs and fun while learning the latest cheerleading moves taught by our professional cheerleading coach.  We will supply pom poms for all your guests for the duration of the party.  Parties cater for up to 10, 6 to 11 year olds and are available on weekends for £104.00 (or £122.00 for up to 18 children).  Party food can be arranged in Costa Coffee, Trattoria and Wimpy.

Zumbatomic Party
Zumbatomic is a latin-inspired dance class for children aged 7-12 years.  In our Zumbatomic parties we incorporate simplified routines with fun, energetic music that todays' children love to shake to.  Each party comprises of fun routines, games and exciting props!  Parties cater for up to 10,  6 to 11 year olds and are available on weekends for £104.00 (or £122.00 for up to 18 children).  Party food can be arranged in Costa Coffee, Trattoria and Wimpy.

Secret Agent Academy Party
On arrival to The Special Agent Academy participants will be split into two competing teams who will then perform a variety of tasks, physical, mental and tactical - concluding in an action laser game.  Tasks will be based on the ability of the age group.  Players scores will be recorded onto their own Secret Agent souvenir passport to establish individual performance and the overall winning team.  Parties are available Friday's, Saturdays and Sundays £99. Parties cater for up to 14,  8 to 10 year olds or up to 12,  11 to 14 year olds.  Party food can be arranged in Costa Coffee, Trattoria and Wimpy.

Tenpin Bowling
A chance to bowl your friends over with a party in Spectrum's 32 lane tenpin bowling centre. A lane marshall will be on hand to introduce any beginners to bowling and bumpers are available to ensure a score for everyone, every time! Music will be added to the party atmosphere and give your guests a striking time!  Parties cater for up to 15 children 5 to 14 years and are available 7 days a week.  Weekday parties are £93.00, weekend parties £104.00.  (An extra lane can be booked at a cost of £24.00 for a weekday party and £26.50 for a weekend party for a group of up to 20 children). Football Party
For all those budding World Cup players, a Spectrum football party is the one for you. This party is packed with football skills, games and of course the Big Match to finish. Specky's Pirate Ship

Go Kart Party - the most fun kids can have!

Go-Kart Party is a fabulous way to give boys and girls aged 4 - 9 years an experience they will never forget!  Whilst driving our battery operated karts around an inflatable mini Grand Prix circuit, children enjoy a completely safe and exhilarating first real driving experience.  Go-Kart Parties are suitable for all types of fun occassions.  Price of £195.00 is for 12 children.

Hire includes exclusive use of the leisure pool for up to 75 people, use of the aqua whizz, flume, tyre ride, spa and water features for the duration of the party, 2 wave machine sessions and use of the surf slide for the last 30 minutes of the party. Your group will be fully supervised by our qualified lifeguards.

There is also the option to have a larger group (i.e above 75 people as above), subject to an additional charge of £75 for each additional block of 25 swimmers.

Every year, with the support of our customers and staff, we choose a local charity as our ‘Charity of the Year’. This charity benefits from the gift of Active Card points which are donated by customers. We turn these points into tickets for a variety of activities, enabling charity beneficiaries to enjoy leisure time at our facilities that they may otherwise be unable to access. We also support the charity in other ways throughout the year including helping to raise their profile and fundraising efforts.

Our Charity of the Year 2012

This year we are delighted to be supporting Shooting Star CHASE (registered charity no. 1042495). This fantastic charity is the children's hospice service, supporting local families with a child or teenager not expected to reach their 19th birthday.  Shooting Star CHASE currently helps over 500 families living in western London, Surrey and West Sussex. The charity is committed to caring for these families every step of their journey, sharing the good times, and helping them through the tough times with practical, nursing and emotional support.

How you can help us reach our target

We would like to be able to donate thousands of points to Shooting Star CHASE this year. This would enable young children, their siblings and families to come swimming every month during the year, or to take time out to come bowling together in their precious leisure time.

Donating your Active points is easy. Simply visit Customer Services or email [info@guildforspectrum.co.uk] with your Active card number and the number of points you would like to donate. We can then deduct these from your total.
