Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice - our new Charity of the Year |
|
We are delighted to be supporting the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as our new Charity Partner of the Year through our Active Gifts scheme. This successful programme enables our customers to donate any unused points on their active card to this charity, enabling those who are affected by the serious illness of a loved one to benefit from our health and fitness facilities.
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice was established in 1979 and provides care to adult patients and their families with life limiting illnesses across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. The Hospice aims to give excellent specialist care and support, and through training empowers other healthcare professionals servicing the community of 600,000 residents to do the same.
We have set a target of collecting 150,000 points throughout the year in support of the Hospice which would enable 375 people to come swimming or 125 families to come bowling. If you would like to make a donation of some, or all of your active card points, you can simply email us at

Our Gym Member of the Year |
|
Fitness enthusiast, Janus Smith, has been selected as our Gym Member of the Year. Janus, who visits Spectrum three times a week with her husband Rodney, was presented with her prize of a Grayshott Spa Day by Carol Martin from Grayshott Spa and Lisa Raynbird from energy level gym & spa.
Janus has been a member of Spectrum since 2000. She has had cardiac surgery, cancer and a stroke, but attributes her remarkable recovery from all three to the benefits of exercise. She says, "My cardiologist says that I am a success story and I can honestly say that Spectrum is the reason for this. I have gained energy, strength and confidence from doing classes and exercising in the gym. Some days I haven't wanted to get out of bed, but have known that exercise is the very best way to get well and I always feel better for coming."
Janus not only enjoys the benefits of exercise herself; she teaches armchair exercises to the ladies of Abbeyville Residential Care Home in Guildford, many of whom are in their '90's. She is also a real advocate of exercise generally, inspiring many others to have a go."
Carol Martin, Sales & Marketing Manager at Grayshott Spa adds, "We are pleased to support Spectrum in recognising the achievements of their gym members and will be delighted to treat Janus to some well deserved pampering spa treatments when she comes to Grayshott with her daugher this Spring."
