Charity Support

GRACE Charity of the Year 2022

Guildford Spectrum, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, has named local charity GRACE as its Charity of the Year.

GRACE - Gynae-oncology Research and Clinical Excellence, supports women with gynaecological cancers by raising awareness, funding research and providing local hospitals with vital surgical equipment.

Gemma Hodgkiss, Fundraising and Communications Manager: “GRACE is thrilled to have been chosen by the public as Spectrum's Charity of the Year. Not just to raise the profile of our small but mighty charity and the work we do to improve treatment and recovery for women locally diagnosed with gynaecological cancer. But because we know early diagnosis saves lives - and working with Spectrum to highlight signs and symptoms to their visitors could lead to women visiting their doctors sooner and receiving treatment more quickly.”

GRACE will be given Active Card points that can be exchanged for a wide variety of leisure facilities. The activity tickets are generated through the generosity of Spectrum's customers who donate their Active Card loyalty points to the cause.  These points are converted into activity tickets for the charity to use as they wish.

Emma Beavis, Guildford Spectrum General Manager: “We are delight that the Guildford public choose GRACE and we are looking forward to working with them to help raise awareness of gynaecological cancers. Freedom Leisure prides itself on serving the community and improving lives through leisure, and this partnership will allow us to do just that.”

Supporting the local community is very important to us

We make an active contribution through staff fundraising, the donation of activity tickets to local community groups and schools and we support a key local charity each year through our Charity of the Year scheme.

Spectrum has previously worked with Jigsaw South East, Guildford Action,The Teenage and Young Adults Cancer Service, Christophers Smile, Challengers, Shooting Star, The Fountain Centre, Home-Start and  Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice who all do exceptional work supporting the local community.

We also support The British Heart Foundation (Freedom Leisure's chosen charity) Save The Children, Children in Need, Sport Relief and Comic Relief with fundraising activities around the complex.
